A little about me

Hi again!

I’m Kennedy, the heart and soul behind Cuddle Bear Doula Care. My journey to becoming a doula has been shaped by a lifetime of experiences, and I’m thrilled to share a bit of my story with you.

I grew up in a single-parent household, and my early years were filled with love, kindness, and resilience. From a young age, I was captivated by the miracle of pregnancy and childbirth. I dreamed of becoming an OB/GYN, fascinated by the science, extreme anatomy transformation, and the profound experience of bringing new life into the world. As I grew older, my passion evolved, and I found myself drawn to the delicate, transformative postpartum period, with a deep reverence for the vital role of supporting families and providing newborn care during those early, crucial days.

When I discovered what a doula is, it felt like a light bulb went off, illuminating a path I was meant to follow. The idea of being directly involved in helping families care for their little ones deeply resonated with me, and this newfound clarity gave birth to Cuddle Bear Doula Care. I started working as a doula part-time while pursuing my college degree, earning a bachelor’s in psychology and a minor in Black American Studies. Graduating in 2021 was a proud moment, and by then, it was clear that my heart was fully devoted to the fulfilling journey of supporting families as a doula.

I’ve always felt a strong call to work with families that don’t fit the traditional nuclear family structure. Supporting first-time parents, LGBTQ+ families, and those with unique dynamics feels incredibly meaningful to me. I love helping these families gain confidence in their ability to care for and nurture their little ones.

Community: The Heartbeat of a Healthy Family

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that a healthy and happy family isn’t defined by the traditional one mom, one dad structure that we’re often taught is necessary. Instead, it’s the community that surrounds and supports a family that truly makes a difference. Whether it’s extended family, friends, or chosen family members, the love and support from a diverse community plays a crucial role in creating a nurturing environment for both parents and children.

The strength of a family lies in its network—people who provide emotional support, practical help, and shared joy. Embracing this broader understanding of family means recognizing that health and happiness comes from a rich tapestry of relationships and support systems. I’m passionate about helping families build and celebrate their unique communities, ensuring that everyone feels valued and supported.

Since graduating, I’ve been working as a full-time doula, and I couldn’t be happier. Every day, I get to be a part of the incredible journey of new parenthood, offering support, reassurance, cuddles, and a little bit of joy. While I plan to apply to medical school in the near future with hopes of becoming a pediatrician, right now, I’m fully immersed in doing what I love most—helping all families grow and thrive.

Thank you for visiting my page and taking the time to consider letting me be a part of your journey. I’m excited to support you and your family with warmth, compassion, and a touch of bubbly enthusiasm!
